Careem Pay Broadens International Remittance, Launches App in UK For UAE Residents

Careem Pay, the digital wallet and fintech platform integrated into the Careem App, has broadened its international remittance offerings by introducing ‘Faster Payments’ to the United Kingdom for UAE residents.

Empowering customers, captains and business proprietors to oversee their finances, handle expenses, and conduct effortless transactions, Careem Pay facilitates seamless financial management both inside and outside the app. Expats across the UAE have enthusiastically embraced Careem Pay’s international remittance service to India and Pakistan.

The recently introduced UK remittance service allows UAE customers to transfer funds to UK bank accounts within minutes, requiring only the recipient’s bank account number and sort code, or IBAN. Offering competitive foreign exchange rates, customers can send up to AED 45,000 in a single transaction and up to AED 135,000 monthly.

Commenting on its UK expansion, the VP of Careem Pay Mohammad El Saadi said,

“Careem Pay’s purpose is to simplify and increase access to financial services for people across the region. We were thrilled to see our remittance services to Pakistan and India enable so many of our customers and Captains in the UAE to send money back home within minutes, and we are excited to now extend this service to another significant segment of the UAE population with near-instant money transfers to the UK. Our UK remittance service will be particularly helpful for anyone who makes consistent transfers to the UK, be it to support families back home, make mortgage payments or contribute to other personal investments.”

Since 2012, Careem has created earnings for over 2.5 million Captains, simplified the lives of over 50 million customers, and built a platform for the region’s best talent to thrive and for entrepreneurs to scale their businesses. The company operates in over 70 cities across 10 countries, from Morocco to Pakistan.
